Mosquitoes are going to be in full force this summer due to the vast amount of rain in May. Standing water is breeding ground. The mosquitoes that are present now are actually from larvae already in development before the rain. The newest crop of larvae will invade in two or three weeks.
But there could be hope in later weeks. If it gets hot and dry, standing water dries up, and so do the mosquitoes if there is no place for them to breed.
We suggest wearing light clothing; mosquitoes are attracted to dark colors. And try to wear long pants and long sleeves to prevent being bitten. Citronella candles can also sometimes be beneficial in the campground, but DEET is the most effective repellent.
